新大的课程要求每一个学生, 无论专业如何, 去上三小时关于人类多样性的课程.

SMU的 民族研究课程 offers a major and minors in African/African-American or Mexican-American Studies; courses include African-American Literature, 黑人和民权运动, 美国的非洲奴隶制度.S. 以及非洲裔美国人的城市经历.
